| good, perhaps very good. This is true science fiction. The time is the future. Society has changed in significant ways, in this case, being overcrowded. New technology, teleporation to far off planets, is in use. Heinlein combines this with teenagers as heros, technological errors, and an alien planet with alien life. In fact, the enemy is that alien life, in the form of dangerous animals, not an intelligent race. The action is continuous, and the story makes sense. In some other books, Heinlein had a bad habit of using fiction to speak about his political views in a blunt and irritating manner. His points about personal responsibility come through in this book as a result of his story, which makes them perfectly acceptable. This book is quite suitable for teenage readers. |
