good. Has six essays, by six different authors, about the 2000 US Presidential election. The essays address the politics, the historical perspective, and the legal struggle. Then, the last one, which is only indirectly related to the 2000 election, discusses the Electoral College. Larry D. Kramer has perhaps the best essay, about how the Supreme Court handles political issues. He makes the observation that the Court's efforts in the area of voting rights were its most successful of all its efforts, at least in the 20th century. He points out that the Court effectively ordered the recount stopped, even though the Court's decision appeared to just return the case to the Florida Supreme Court, because the decision refused to let the Florida Court extend the deadline that was upon the state.

The essays are balanced and seem non-partisan. The book is well worthwhile.
